Justin Bieber in early 2011 associated himself with an adopt a pet campaign with PETA. While I have to admit that I am not familiar with his work as a young entertainer, I certainly recognize the name and know that his work is extremely popular with those looking for entertainment in his genre. And the organization PETA, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals, is the most popular animal rights organization.
You may or not agree with all of the causes that PETA.org supports. But if you love animals as I do, then I am sure you can support a program that encourages pet adoption especially from shelters and supports all efforts to stop animal cruelty.

This is what the program Justin Bieber launched is all about. The PETA campaign promotes the importance of pet adoption from reputable sources and supports efforts to encourage local pet adoption. Too many homeless pets are destroyed every year because there are not enough homes for them.
I am proud to see a young entertainer such as Bieber using his picture and name on the PETA ads.
If you actually do not understand the importance of pet adoptions, then just do a Google search for pictures of animal shelter dogs. These pictures are but a small glimpse of the thousands of homeless animals found in shelters every day and of the need for people to adopt unwanted and homeless pets.
I am sure that Justin Bieber would agree that a dog is man’s best friend.

There are a lot of blog posts on the internet about Justin and girlfriend, Selena Gomez,adopting a dog. Bieber denies this in various interviews. He actually owns a papillon dog named Sammy. After moving to a new town and looking for a friend, his family adopted Sammy who became Justin’s best friend. Many articles state that Justin bonded with his father as a young child when they went to animal shelters just to visit the animals. I am glad to see that thiscelebrity has a great place for his dog to live while he is touring. The dog lives with his grandmother, That is a very responsible move for someone so young.

It would have been totally irresponsible for Justin and Selena Gomez to have adopted an animal together. If their relationship did not last, there would be heartbreak for the dog. Also with two owners who travel tremendously and are extremely busy, the dog would probably not get the attention it needed. Of course Mr. Bieber certainly has the means to see that any pet is well taken care of. But the point of having a pet is for companionship which dictates that the owner must be present.
Bravo to this young man for making the decision not to adopt if the subject truly came up and also to see that his current pet is well taken care of in his absence.

Something to consider when adopting a pet is if you have the means and ability to take care of a pet. You will not be doing the pet or yourself any great service if you adopt without the ability to take care of your new pet.
My mom loves pets but would not consider adopting a pet since she currently does not have the ability to take care of one. But she loves receiving visits from my numerous pets.
